Last week, Pastor Jamie Munson attended the Acts 29 Boot Camp in North Carolina. Between now and Friday, the Mars Hill Blog will post his reflections from the trip.
The last 24 hours have been pretty incredible. As I write this, I’m on my way back to Seattle, sitting in an airplane with tears rolling down my cheeks and that lump in your throat that comes from a joyous cry. The flight attendants have come by twice asking if I want a drink. They’re probably asking themselves,
what’s wrong with the basket case in 16C?

As all guys are, I’m hesitant to share this for fear of being seen as weak. But I believe what Scripture says: when we are weak he is strong (2 Cor. 12:9). Mars Hill, as one of your pastors I want to share with you my tears of joy.
My joy is in God the Father and that he is the perfect dad and that for eternity I am his adopted son.
My joy is in Jesus Christ, that he willingly lived the life I couldn’t live and died the death I couldn’t die, a perfect and pure sacrifice on behalf of my sin.
My joy is in the Holy Spirit, who leads me because he loves me and teaches me faithfully, always pointing towards Jesus.
My joy is in the gift of my wife Crystal, a wonderful blessing that I don't deserve.
My joy is in the smiles and hearts of the four children that call me daddy.
My joy is in the church family of Mars Hill, in which I first encountered the life-transforming grace and work of Jesus.
My joy is in the inspiring and humbling ways that God is using Mars Hill as part of a global movement to bring all glory to Jesus, as one life at a time is transformed through his power.
My joy is in the thousands of friends that call Mars Hill Church home and are using their hearts, talents, and resources to worship Jesus and faithfully serve his church.
My joy is in the other pastors that have made the personal sacrifices to lead and serve the family at Mars Hill.
My joy is in the dozens of
Acts 29 Churches that are lifting up the name of Jesus around our country and throughout the world
My joy is in the many more thousands of friends that support Mars Hill Church around the world and online, through prayer and participation in the ministry.
My joy is in the future lives that will experience life transformation in Jesus as we continue to be faithful to the mission our church has been given.
Mars Hill, we must be extremely grateful for Jesus’ work in our midst till now, and we must carry on with what we’ve been given to do with a sense of urgency and an even greater dependence on the Holy Spirit.
In the coming weeks I look forward to sharing more of our future plans with you. In the meantime, I would ask that you pray for great wisdom, discernment, courage, humility, and stewardship for your elders, deacons, and every leader in the church.
