The World Just Got Smaller--And Bigger

A29 Boot Camp

This week's Acts 29 Boot Camp in Seattle was incredible. Two sessions in particular got me thinking about how the world seems to be getting smaller and bigger at the same time.

Small World

During one session, thirty or so guys gathered from around the world. I met pastors, church planters, and movement leaders from Brazil, DR Congo, Australia, India, South Africa, Canada, the UK, the US, and Albania. The world got real small real quick, and it was quite a beautiful sight. I was blown away by the humility and grace these men exhibited as they laid down their diverse affiliations, denominations, and traditions in order to rally together in the name of Jesus. I pray for a safe return to their various countries, and I pray they arrive encouraged and refreshed by their brothers from around the world.

Bigger World

This week I also sat in on a session with 183 men from Mars Hill Church, all of whom have expressed a desire to plant a church or a Mars Hill campus someday. This means we've got a lot of work to do—building the systems, structures, and training necessary to send out these men. The task is big, and a bit overwhelming, but quite promising. I look forward to the day when I can gather with these men again, now on the other side of their church-planting adventure, to hear more stories of how God has moved in new and different corners of the world.
