God isn't done. My family came to this country in the 1970’s as a result of various political movements in Latin America. In seeking freedom from dictators and guerillas they found Jesus. I was born in the 1980s when their faith was strong. But, the church they attended abused them. They felt that they were used for their wealth and cultural diversity. Something happened when my family left the church. No longer were suggestions by a pastor taken seriously; no longer did they ask for prayers from the church for their rebellious teenagers or financial hardships. Most importantly, relationships were no longer looked at biblically. I had just left a church for almost the same reasons as my family when I found the Mars Hill sermons online. At the time, I was in a relationship with a Christian man that was heading towards sin. (Okay, it was already in sin.) I was so hungry for Jesus. I came to the Mars Hill website looking for churches that only preached Jesus. When I found Mars Hill, I was fearful that it was another massive church that preached Jesus so that the women could be made into boring foreign things, like "nice" and "quiet." I began watching the Peasant Princess series even though I was actively searching for a new church at home with my boyfriend. I watched the series, listened to Mark’s wife, and cried. I tried to get my boyfriend involved in the excitement of true romance, to remember Christ's love, but he lacked interest. Over time, I repented, cried, and then ended my relationship with my boyfriend because I wanted to be with a man who would be excited about worshiping God. This is how God powerfully used your services to speak to me. He saved me from giving away my virginity to a man who was really not interested in living for Jesus. Mars Hill reminded me that everything we do is about our relationship with Jesus and His relationship with us. Now I see the difference between worldly men, and Godly men and know what type of man to wait for and who to really serve. Thank you!"
