Pastor Mark's First Reports From Haiti

What follows is the first round of raw, unedited updates and photos from Pastor Mark in Haiti. They come from his Facebook and Twitter. He is in country to assess the situation and needs of the Haitian churches. Stay tuned for a more thorough account when the team returns to the States. Yesterday we heard a gunshot behind us and a teenage boy had gotten shot in head and died immediately. He was just feet from the seminary property and next to a makeshift clinic where 5000 people are there sleeping outside. Warning this link contains graphic content http://bit.ly/4vNibL -- This is a church security guard. The churches taking in victims and feeding people are under armed guard for safety. Imagine your ushers packing shot guns.  -- If u want a phone, cigarettes or a teenage girl you can get them here in Port au Prince. Like the American who said he's on a relief mission and bought a hungry girl despite our confrontation. -- Got to sleep indoors on concrete with a backpack pillow. God was gracious and I slept well and feel good, praise God. -- It's a war zone here in Haiti. There are no supplies, roads are closed etc. -- Pray for this pastor. He just got back from his wifes funeral. He was teaching bible college when the earthquake hit and she was buried. He also lost his home & sleeps outside homeless with 4 young sons. -- Haitians are literally walking around stunned, not crying and just shell shocked. -- Are u in your church choir? Just visited a church that was over 1000 that fell in the quake. Many choir member bodies are still trapped. --- The photo is rotted bodies in front of the Wesleyan church that was a thousand people til destroyed -- Just saw ruins of largest evangelical church in PaP. Pastor is in his 60s many of his people are dead & his radio station no longer exists. -- I will try and keep up for 2 days for mh online friends curious about our time in port au prince. Just be a bit gracious please. It's been half a day and I've smelled a lot of dead bodies avoided a mob saw a guy shot in the head etc. Please don't read anything into the posts I'm running on the fly and simple iPhone photos and pro video and photo are coming when we get online. Churcheshelpingchurches.org -- Just prayed for a 24 yr old xn man digging the body of his 26 yr old brothers body from a rubble heap - he was the worship leader. -- Two photos of collapsed churches in Haiti -- Just bought ice cream for a hundred kids sleeping outside. Heard gunshot behind me a teenage boy got shot in head and died immediately -- Pray for those who can't get in with supplies but need to. We got in which is a miracle but it's hit and miss. Franklin Graham and others need to get in and if what we heard is true it's getting harder to land. -- Franklin graham spent 6 hrs in air and couldn't land. We landed in PaP got security detail and 2 cars. All coming together on the ground -- Landed in hell but doing well. The soldiers first words off the plane were u will now see a crisis of biblical proportions. -- Great morning at harvest bible church in Chicago. Learning a ton from Pastor James Macdonald. Wheels up 2am tonight to Haiti. -- God has lined up all we need on the ground to get around in Haiti. Driver, translator, etc. Pray it all comes together. -- Some surgeons/doctors are also on the flight into Haiti along with a thousand plus pounds of medical supplies. -- God is really going before us. Our landing time in Haiti has been approved.
