Micromission Series: Jesus & a Meal in Tent City

By Mariya Kargopoltseva Christopher Hutson and his community group chose to love and serve Tent City near Shoreline for their micromission. Tent City is a community of homeless people who live in tents as they try to get back on their feet. The community group went to Costco and purchased everything they needed in order to cook a hot pasta meal. They also picked up additional items for the camp that included batteries, paper towels, bottled water, juice, cookies and fruit. A few community group members also donated sleeping bags. "We prayed for them, handed out Bibles and reflected the love of Jesus as best we could," Chris said. By the grace of God alone, the group was able to receive necessary funds, resources and open, loving hearts to serve and feed people the way Jesus did. Chris enjoyed the numerous "thank you’s" the group received because their gratitude was indirectly to Jesus for what he has done, whether they knew it or not. "I get chills just thinking about that--how God can be glorified by work he does through us and the joy we get by him allowing us to be a part of that work," Chris concluded.
