Bellevue Campus Open During Police Standoff

Follow-up: Police have arrested the 27-year-old man. A man attacked and pulled a gun on his girlfriend and her son today in Bellevue. The incident started around 11:40 am in the apartments next door to the Mars Hill Bellevue campus. The felon barricaded himself in an apartment and a stand-off ensued, lasting until just after 8:00pm. The woman was able to escape unharmed with her two children. No one was hurt during the standoff. The Bellevue campus has cancelled the 5pm service and opened their doors to provide shelter, food, and water to the residents of the apartments displaced while the S.W.A.T. team negotiated with the man. Many of the apartment complex's children came over to shoot hoops, play dodge ball, and have dinner in the gym. Services at the Bellevue Campus will resume at the regular times next week: 9 am, 11:15 am, and 5 pm.
