I've Been There, Eugene.
"Yeah--it's hard right now, but keep working, fighting and pressing till you reach the place God wants you to be as a man."
Hi,
My name is Keith, and while I'm not a physical member of MHC, I am a part of your extended (via the Internet) church family. Just read today's entry regarding the young man Eugene. Want to encourage him to keep running on until he obtains those goals. I know what he's going through. Ten years ago, I was in the same place, depending on mom for too, too much, even though I was in school and working.
But it wasn't until a failed relationship with a girl I was crazy about, that I took some initiative for my life as a Christian man. Then I, too, got moving. I finished my undergrad in media communications and began my Master's until I got a job working for one of the greatest media production companies in town. I did this all, initially, with the hope of winning this girl back but she never changed her mind.
However, I am certain God sovereignly used the whole experience to cause me to lean on Jesus and to grow me up! So when I read Eugene's story, I had to write you guys to just encourage him that, yeah--it's hard right now, but keep working, fighting and pressing till you reach the place God wants you to be as a man.
In a way, we both are still at the same place as I am still looking and trusting for the Lord to bring one of his daughter's into my life (I do have my eye on one in particular at my church, so, pray for me!)
Anyway, thank God that someone is speaking to this generation of boys to grow up into men--godly men!
God bless Eugene and MHC!!
