Pastor AJ and DJs Talk About Jesus, Demons, Ghosts, and Rape on the Radio

Albuquerque DJ Buck got saved at MH Albuquerque just six months ago in May and pretty much has not missed an opportunity to talk about Jesus and the church since. He's a member of Pastor AJ Hamilton's Community Group and regularly brings people who don't know Jesus to the group. His 104.1 co-host, Dex, has been a Christian for a long time and attends another local church. Although the station is not a Christian one by any means, the two talk regularly on air about their faiths, which, says Pastor AJ, their bosses apparently don't mind as the ratings stay up. Last month, Buck and Dex interviewed Pastor AJ on their show about Satan, demons, and angels. It's one of the remarkable instances where we see why we need to take I Peter 3:15 seriously, to know our Bible, and be prepared to talk about Jesus and give reason for our faith for when we are given the chance to.

Part I: Satan, Demons, Ghosts, and Jesus

DJs: So AJ's here from Mars Hill, one of the pastors there, and on this On the Edge segment, I wanna focus on demons and ghosts, that's the theme. And most Americans, most American people, most American Christians, they really truly believe that when we die, that you can get trapped here on Earth and you don't necessarily go to heaven or hell but you can get trapped on Earth. That's why we go out and visit a haunted house, there's people there that apparently have died and that's where they live now and they haunt the house. So we're here to talk about what the Bible says about demons and Satan and ghosts. Does the Bible even say anything about ghosts?

AJ: About ghosts, no. Demons, yeah.

DJs: Let's talk about [this]: Who is Satan?

AJ: The Bible talks about Satan a lot in the things that he does: He's the accuser, he's the destroyer, he's the father of lies. His names in Scripture are aspects of his work here on Earth. And he was an angel; he didn't find his rightful place to be worthy of him so he tried to be god and God sent him down and cast him out of heaven. And now he's down here waging a war against God's people, against God. And though we know through the Bible his end – he's gonna be in a lake of fire, him and his demons had a special place prepared for him – and yet he's going to end there, he still fights.

Part II: Pastor AJ's testimony, life transformations, and angels

[audio:http://blog.marshill.com/files/2010/11/aj-part-2.mp3] Pastor AJ talks about his background–how his mom became pregnant with him after being raped by her boyfriend's friend, how he became a Christian at three years old while taking a bath–and all the change he's seen in a year in Albuquerque, including in the lives of the DJs who are interviewing them.

*Note: The background music played behind the clip of Pastor Mark preaching at the intro of this segment is not part of the original recording but was added by the radio station. These audio segments are available on the station's website.

Up next: Pastor Dave goes on the air.
