Bridget's Story | Changed by Jesus

Bridget was 13 and in an abusive relationship, when her boyfriend first introduced her to drugs. A short time later, he was arrested and overdosed on methamphetamines, leaving her without the person in whom she'd placed her entire identity and completely untethered. In time, through adults at her school, the Eastside Academy School and Mars Hill Church Downtown Bellevue, she came to Christ and allowed him to become her foundation.

"In November of last year I started to come to a really bad place, and God again came into my life and was like 'Do you really want to die, Bridget? I love you.' That was when my friend was like 'We should go to this church that I heard about.'"
Bridget started regularly attending church services at Mars Hill Church Downtown Bellevue. Through mentors both at her school, Eastside Christian Academy and a Mars Hill Bellevue couple, Bridget eventually responded to God's call.
"Somewhere along the lines, I came to Jesus. I finally gave up and said, 'You know what? I can't manage my life anymore. I want you to come and change my heart. I want to accept the salvation that you have given me."
She followed up with that commitment by deciding to be baptized on Easter this year and publicly profess that faith:
"It was the greatest feeling ever to be like, 'I am faithful to Jesus and I proclaim that.' By no means is my life any easier at home or anywhere else; it was just different. I had a guide now."
