Introducing Pastor Sutton Turner

Mars Hill Church,

It is my honor to introduce you to your newest pastor, Sutton Turner. Pastor Sutton will serve on the Executive Elder team as one of the three senior leaders of Mars Hill, along with Pastor Dave Bruskas and myself. Pastor Dave oversees all of our churches and church-wide ministries, I oversee the vision and the preaching, and Pastor Sutton oversees all of our operations—finance, communication, property, etc.

On Sunday, we installed Pastor Sutton at Mars Hill Church Ballard. Here is the video:

Earlier this year, the Turner family moved around the world just to be a part of Mars Hill Church. They’d been listening to the podcast for many years, and when the opportunity arose to join the ministry, Sutton left a lucrative job in the Middle East to use his gifts to serve the church.

Pastor Sutton’s experience has already been a huge benefit. He has a degree from Harvard Business School, led multibillion-dollar organizations, and even worked as an executive pastor for a number of years at a large church in Texas. More importantly, he is a godly man with a delightful family.

By God’s grace, Mars Hill Church is in an amazing season of growth. With that comes significantly more complexities, however. We need help and we’ve been searching for a leader of Sutton’s caliber for awhile. God is faithful and brought the right man at the right time.

Please pray for Pastor Sutton in his new role. Pray for the Turner family as they prepare to travel to Ethiopia next month to pick up their newly adopted son, Joseph, who is in the final stages of the immigration process. And pray that the Holy Spirit would call more men like Pastor Sutton to devote their business savvy and financial resources to participate as leaders, givers, and servants in the work of the gospel.

–Pastor Mark

You can follow Pastor Sutton on Twitter. Hear him give his testimony after the jump:

It's All About Jesus

Jesus was a man who claimed to be God. Think on that for a minute. If that were true, how would it change the way you thought, felt, and lived this life?

At Mars Hill, we believe that Jesus is God. We take him at his word. Because of this, everything we do is all about Jesus. We invite you to learn more about this man who is God and how you can find forgiveness and new life in him.

What to Expect

Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-racking. But having an idea of what to expect can help. There are three main parts to every Sunday service: preaching, worship, and kids. To learn more about each of these, click the links below.

The Mars Hill Guide Leadership at Mars Hill

We value community

Church is more than a service. It’s people living life together and helping one another throughout our cities to serve our cities. Each week, thousands of people at Mars Hill meet in hundreds of small communities to learn about God, pray, eat, laugh, and live. We call these Community Groups—and they’re the heart of our church.

Jesus is the most generous person who ever lived. He gave his life so that we might live. As Christians, we give our time, talent, and money joyfully in response to Jesus’ generosity and to help more people meet Jesus.
