"Where Are You?" Community Group Discussion Questions | God's Work, Our Witness Part #3

God's Work Our Witness This week, Pastor Mark preached out of Genesis 1–3, 1 Timothy 2–3, and Ephesians 5 on God's intent for men and women in creation, the church, and the home, respectively. It's one of the distinctive theologies here at Mars Hill, and naturally, there should be a lot to talk about this week in your Community Groups. To help foster that, here is a set of questions for group leaders as you work through this sermon with your group:

Discussion

  1. How do experiences and culture shape our view of men’s and women’s roles and relationships in general?
  2. In what ways are men and women created equal? Why is this understanding so important to the concept of complementarian relationships?
  3. In what ways does Jesus provide for us an example of complementarian relationships within the Trinity?
  4. How do the different roles of men and women reflect the triune nature of God?
  5. When a complementarian theology is lived out in a marriage, how do expectations of service and love from the husband and respect from the wife work together to glorify Jesus?
  6. Compare the views of biblical masculinity and femininity with the cultural view of each. Where are there similarities, differences, and distortions? How has this challenged your own view of masculinity and femininity?
  7. What does a home that reflects the relationships within the Trinity look like?
  8. Why is understanding complementarian relationships so important for the church and your family?

Pray

Pray for relationships within our homes and our church that reflect the beauty and glory of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
