Friday, June 1, is the deadline to sign up for the first annual Mars Hill Students Summer Retreat, next month in Malibu, BC. Currently, we have over 175 kids coming in from Baltimore, Pasadena, Albuquerque, Portland, and, of course, Seattle.
This includes many kids in need of a scholarship. Thanks to many generous donors, we’ve already received over $30,000 in scholarship money—thank you! We’re praying for $25,000 more before Friday so that we can accommodate every need (how to give).
Here are a few stories from the families that we are trying to serve through the scholarship fund (names and identifying details changed):
-
I am in the midst of going through a tragic divorce. It is beyond devastating! My husband dumped us and took off with another woman. I am now a single mother of four daughters who are very precious. I need this camp for them to have fun and seek Jesus and heal.
-
Josh came to live with us last year and as our foster son. The Lord has done a great work in him and he has since accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. As much as we love him, we are not in a position to afford this camp. We have high hopes to redeem some of his childhood and set him up for success before he is reunited with family down the road.
-
We are living pay check to pay check, and my daughter has been running away and struggling with school. She was recently baptized, but we are still struggling to make things work at home. She doesn’t want to do much lately, but she did express interest in going to this camp and I really want her to experience being around other teens who love Jesus. I am willing to pay what I can.
There are dozens more stories like these, and we are grateful for the many in our church who have already provided a means for kids to attend. If you’d like to sponsor a camper, use this online form to give.
Registration is available online as well, for any 8th–12th graders who’d like to attend but haven’t signed up yet. There is a form for female campers and a form for male campers.
Please be in prayer for our teenagers as they head off to camp on June 21.
