Let us know you're coming on Facebook
One week after Mars Hill Church Downtown Seattle was born on March 16, 2008, the Seattle's first church congregation held a "deconsecration" service for their historic and majestic building in the heart of downtown Seattle as they moved to smaller quarters, as it had become too difficult to maintain the large structure at Fifth Avenue and Marion Street.
Recently, we signed a lease to move into this historic space in the heart of Seattle! This building was completed in 1906 and was the home to the first congregation in the city of Seattle and started by many of the founding families of Seattle. During the last 25 years, this building faced a public and contentious battle for its future as church and city leaders debated what preservation would look like.
During the last four and a half years, this incredible space has played host to many concerts, shows, and recitals as it was turned into a concert hall, but has not hosted worship to Jesus. However, because of God's great love for the city of Seattle and his desire to see Jesus' name lifted up in the very heart of our city, it's my great honor to invite you to a special night of what we're calling "reconsecration." This Thursday, August 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. we are holding a night of Vision and Prayer at Daniels Recital Hall, where we will symbolically reconsecrate the space to show that Jesus is alive and will be worshiped in center-city Seattle. Jesus is building his church in the city of Seattle and we would love for you to join us learn about what it means to replant Mars Hill Downtown Seattle.
Please join me, Pastor Mark Driscoll, and our executive and local elders for this important night. Childcare will be provided, and free validated parking will be available at the Bank of America Fifth Avenue Plaza, located directly across Fifth Avenue from our building. Please use the parking garage entrance off of Columbia Street. Please invite anyone interested in what God is doing in urban Seattle.
Really looking forward to seeing you on Thursday!
