Mars Hill Church’s mission is to plant churches and make disciples. We have grown from a small Bible study to over 12,000 weekly attenders at 14 different churches in 4 states: Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and California. Mars Hill is leading a global movement of seeing the Gospel change urban centers and this is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of equipping and leading gospel-centered families. Mars Hill Downtown Seattle (MHDT), is strategically positioned in the heart of Seattle, and by the grace of God in 3 years has grown to more than 1300 people, with over 300 people baptized. ROLE SUMMARY

The kids ministry director will report directly to the executive pastor. This role requires a high capacity leader with a heart is to develop a world-class ministry for families in an urban setting. You must be on mission to impact the city of Seattle, particularly the families and children that will be inhabiting it for generations. You will posses strong strategy and planning skills that can develop effective ministries for families, youth, and kids alike that fit in an urban core.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fulfill the duties required of Mars Hill Church members as outlined in the membership covenant.
  • Fulfill character qualifications of an deacon or elder as taught in Scriptures.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Aligned with MHDT leaders and passionate about urban ministry in downtown Seattle.
  • Proven track record leading a vibrant children’s ministry.
  • Experience evaluating and increasing effectiveness of teachers/kids leaders is preferred.
  • A “leader of leaders” and able to deliver vision through a team.
  • Humble, desire to continually improve, and a passion to build a world-class Kids Ministry.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong teaching and training skills.
  • Professional-level skills and experience with families, youth, and kids
  • Ability to create, contextualize, and implement high quality teaching and training content for urban families, youth, and kids.
  • Strength in recruiting, developing, inspiring, and setting clear expectations for volunteers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and build teams to execute all aspects of Kids Ministry for weekend services – service leads, room set up, volunteers, check-in, curriculum.
  • Be expert on Kids Ministry policy, train others in policy and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and ensure ministry includes mix of prayer and Bible study that is fun and educational, wile utilizing interactive/multimedia effectively.
  • Recruit, develop and train high quality, dependable team of volunteers and leaders.
  • Communicate effectively with Executive Pastor on ministry needs and weekend operations.
  • Consistent communication with key leaders and parents.
  • Develop healthy community among parents and equip parents for discipleship.
  • Develop strategy and key leaders to launch a youth ministry for MHDT.
  • Train, develop and encourage strong Biblical parenting – lead local mission for kids and family at church and provide resources, training and encouragement. 

Schedule: Monday–Friday plus weekend responsibilities, must be available for special events
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Seattle WA (Belltown area)
Vacation: Two weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
