EVERETT - EXECUTIVE PASTOR
Mars Hill Church’s mission is to plant churches and make disciples. We have grown from a small Bible study to over 12,000 weekly attenders at 14 different churches in 4 states – Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and California. We are humbled and excited by the work we have seen him do over the past few years. As Mars Hill churches continue to be planted, there is a need for executive pastors. Mars Hill is a network of local churches, each one shepherded by a lead pastor and his second in command, the executive pastor. The ideal candidate brings a background in business with great faith in Jesus’ supernatural role in building his church.
ROLE SUMMARY
The executive pastor reports to the lead pastor of the local Mars Hill church. The role of an effective executive pastor is threefold: serve Jesus, serve the church, serve the lead pastor. The executive pastor oversees the other church staff and is responsible for core ministries and day to day operations at the local Mars Hill church.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fulfill the duties required of Mars Hill Church members as outlined in the membership covenant.
- Fulfill the character qualifications of a elder as taught in the Scriptures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field is desired.
- Proven track record in ministry and biblical discipleship of others at a deacon/elder level.
- Demonstrated strength in planning and organizing.
- Humble, desire to continually improve, and passion to build a world-class church and ministry operations.
- Commitment to serving Mars Hill in role for at least three years to ensure a solid foundation and consistency.
- Discretion, perseverance, patience, and sense of humor; team spirit and genuine caring.
- “Kingly” in the Triperspectival Leadership model (prophet/priest/king): strong administrative and organizational skills and gifts, builder of strategies and systems, focused on details.
- Results-focused leadership with persuasive interpersonal skills adaptable to a variety of personalities and situations.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Professional-level skills and experience with people, business, and financial management.
- Strong teaching and training skills.
- Entrepreneurial abilities, from big picture strategy to operational details.
- Ability to lead volunteer teams, recruiting, developing, and inspiring people, setting clear expectations and accountability.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that the local church excels in the area of Mars Hill’s four ministry priorities: Sunday services, community, leadership, and training.
- Lead local staff and support the lead pastor, allowing him to operate within his strengths.
- Serve the lead pastor by addressing ministry details and implementation, allowing the lead pastor to teach, pray, develop leaders, and lead the mission of the church.
- Teach classes and small groups.
- Manage local church budget.
- Manage capital campaigns and fundraising for local church and church planting as needs arise.
Schedule: Monday – Friday plus Sunday responsibilities
Hours: 40-50 hours per week
Location: Everett, WA
Vacation: Four weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
