LEAD PASTOR

Mars Hill Church’s mission is to plant churches and make disciples. We have grown from a small Bible study to over 12,000 weekly attenders at 14 different churches in 4 states: Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, and California. Each Mars Hill church is shepherded by a Lead Pastor. The Lead Pastor is the primary visionary for the local work of each Mars Hill Church. Through teaching, writing, training, and shepherding, he encourages the congregation to believe the gospel and live on mission for Jesus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fulfill the duties required of Mars Hill Church members as outlined in the membership covenant.
  • Fulfill the character qualifications of a Elder as taught in the Scriptures.
  • Alignment with church leaders and passionate about casting vision and development of leaders.
  • Proven track record in ministry and Biblical discipleship of others at a Elder level.
  • Humble, desire to continually improve, and passion to build a world-class church and ministry operations.
  • Commitment to serving Mars Hill Church and support the mission.
  • Discretion, perseverance, patience and sense of humor; team spirit and genuine caring.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong gift of leadership and proven track record of developing leaders of leaders.
  • Love Jesus and has a desire to see lives and communities changed.
  • Possess entrepreneurial spirit with a strong gifting in casting vision, training leaders and influencing the church.
  • Successful at multi-tasking, time management, prioritizing and influencing a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality and trust regarding church and member information.
  • Ability to work with and maintain positive, loyal relationships with others in and outside the church.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure fulfillment of Mars Hill Church four ministry priorities - Sunday services, community, leadership, and training.
  • Lead, develop and manage church staff.
  • Preach, pray and disciple the church working out of lead pastor’s strengths.
  • Create and cast vision for staff, volunteers and church members.
  • Collaborate and work with Mars Hill Church departments and central ministries to carry out the mission.
  • Ensure the health of local Mars Hill church.
  • Keep teams on mission for Jesus.
  • Oversee budget and capital campaigns or fundraising for local church and church planting when needs arise.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, plus Sunday responsibilities
Hours: 40-50 hours per week
Vacation: Four weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
