Video Editor

Mars Hill Church’s mission is to plant churches and make disciples. The Creative Department at Mars Hill Church functions as the primary steward of the Mars Hill Church brand, and its mission includes developing, creating and distributing sermons, teaching sessions and other content through a variety of internal and external distribution channels. The production arm of the Creative Department is responsible for video editing, post-production, live production, distribution and archiving of audio and video content as well as the procurement and maintenance of video gear and technology. This position requires strong organizational skills, keen troubleshooting skills and a thorough understanding of video systems for editing and broadcast.

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a highly organized individual with plenty of video editing experience. The job is a full-time position and will consist of 80% of your work-week inside of Final Cut Pro and 20% on set, shooting. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to layout and organize a large project within FCP. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fulfill the duties required of Mars Hill Church members as outlined in the membership covenant.
  • Fulfill the character qualifications of a deacon as taught in the Scriptures.
  • Ability to edit in several different styles.
  • Ability to take direction from the Producers and Directors as well as delegate tasks and manage others.

OBJECTIVES

  • Edit and produce sermon and teaching content for Mars Hill Church, A29 and Resurgence.
  • Assist in visual effects and editing/pre-production of narrative shorts and sermon content.
  • Train and oversee video editing volunteers.
  • Keep current with the latest programs and equipment and disseminate this information to volunteers for training.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Weekly video editing tasks
    • Edit sermon content each week (this includes potentially late nights on Sundays).
    • Edit promotional material (green screen keying and content editing).
    • Edit A29 and Resurgence conferences/interview.
    • Assist and organize editorial project for larger campaign editing projects.
  • Volunteer/Employee/Independent Contractor coordination
    • Recruit, train and manage growing team of volunteers, employees and contractors to fulfill all video capture needs.
    • Delegate and oversee projects given to volunteers, employees and contractors.
    • Stay up to date with technology in film and video.
  • Improve video production quality
    • Work with Productions Director to improve video editing techniques and performance.
    • Establish criteria for quality throughout all edited video and hold volunteers, employees and contractors to this standard.
    • Maintain working knowledge of visual effects and editing software and techniques.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Complete various assigned readings and projects.
    • Attend Weekly Creative & Communications Department meetings.
    • Keep fellow employees apprised of any updates/changes that would be beneficial.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, with some Sunday responsibilities; travel and filming days require flexibility. Must be on-call as needed.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Central Offices | Seattle WA (Ballard)
Vacation: Two weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
