Project Manager - Development and Property
The Development and Property Department serves the mission of Mars Hill by partnering in the planting of new Mars Hill churches and leading capital initiatives. We oversee these developments through real estate acquisition, design, construction, production technology, and project management. Our team gets a front row seat to see Jesus build his church and, by God's grace, there are many exciting opportunities at hand and ahead. We are currently looking for a Project Manager. This role requires a person with a mature Christian walk and a passion for advancing the mission and vision of Mars Hill. We are praying that Jesus lays a heavy and clear calling on the person to fill this role and help reach all corners of the world with the gospel.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter, highly organized and able to handle day-to-day details while maintaining a broader understanding of Mars Hill’s direction and momentum. The person must be an experienced professional capable of developing and overseeing all department projects. We expect a lot from candidates: both a mastery of a challenging and ever-changing field, and an unyielding love for Jesus.
ROLE SUMMARY
This position reports to the Development Manager and leads project teams both in the department and across Mars Hill churches and departments. The project manager will be responsible for delivery of projects on time, within budget and meeting project objectives. This person must be a strong, proven leader who is able to cast vision, rally people around the vision, invest in and train others. This person will be responsible for review of project proposals, budget oversight, schedules, risk assessment and addressing project obstacles. While the majority of work will be remote project management, i.e., not being in the same location as the actual project work, occasional day trips and overnight travel to job sites will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Fulfill the duties required of Mars Hill Church members as outlined in the membership covenant.
- Fulfill the character qualifications of a deacon as taught in the Scriptures.
- Some work towards PMP certification preferred.
- Experience with construction management preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple projects and assignments with variety of staff, volunteers, vendors and contractors.
- Discretion, perseverance, patience, and a sense of humor.
- Able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and to work as a viable part of a team.
- Able to influence peers, ministry leaders, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Able to travel overnight up to 20% to review job progress, attend construction meetings, meet with stakeholders, architects, etc.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review proposals for projects and tasks; coordinate timelines with Development Manager.
- Research requirements and scope of project proposals; provide due diligence and cost estimates for proposals.
- Monitor and manage complete projects and action items to meet schedules, budgets, and design standards.
- Create project roadmaps, resource allocation charts, identify and address critical path obstacles.
- Lead the planning and resource management of all Development Group projects and initiatives.
- Maintain vendor and client relationships.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Mars Hill churches and departments on new projects and timelines.
- Participate in lessons-learned reviews to identify practice improvements.
- Participate in regular meetings to anticipate needs, brainstorm & implement solutions.
Schedule: Monday - Friday and on call as required
Travel: Up to 20%
Hours: 40+ hours per week
Location: Central Offices | Seattle, WA (Ballard)
Vacation: Two weeks floating vacation plus one week at Christmas
