Ephesians
Part 15: Pastor Dad
Ephesians 6:1-4
Fathers are commanded to train their children and bring them up in the Lord. The Scriptures assume that it is not primarily the duty of the school or youth pastor to raise a child, but rather the father. This does not mean that the father should quit his job and stop providing for his family, but rather that he takes responsibility to ensure that the formal and informal education of his child is “in the Lord,” in concert with his wife.
Ephesians 6:1-4
6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” 4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
